And So It Begins

Our much-touted and long-awaited stage rigging upgrade is finally underway. At a cost of nearly $300,000, the project will replace our 96-year-old hemp-rope and sandbag system with a modern counterweight system that meets current building and safety codes. Funded mostly through a $250,000 grant from the MI Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity (LEO), the project will take approximately seven weeks to complete. On a recent cold January Monday morning, volunteers spent more than two hours unloading the equipment from a semi-trailer in single digit temperatures. Now new equipment sits on the stage floor, waiting to be assembled and hung.
