A New Friend for our “Grand Old Lady”

Pictured at the Barton Organ is Darek Hartwig, a friend of long-time Barton organ supporters and local theatre patrons Nick & Helen Zuvich. Formerly of Milwaukee, the Zuvichs moved north in 1986 when Nick retired and they now live in Iron Belt Wisconsin. Their friend Darek, who hails from Madison, visits Ironwood about once a month. On a recent visit Darek was introduced to the Ironwood Theatre and our Barton Organ. Darek, a self-confessed organ aficionado, is a member of the Organ Historical Society of Wisconsin. According to Darek “…the best part of OHS membership is the annual Spring Organ Crawl when Society members visit a community or two and have the opportunity to play a number of local pipe organs.” He has played more than 200 organs in his time, but after his recent visit to the Ironwood Theatre, now ranks our Barton amongst one of his favorites of all time. Darek we are glad Nick and Helen introduced you to our “Grand Old Lady” and we look forward to more visits from you in the future. Perhaps when life returns to normal we could persuade you to play a concert?
